Guerilla Records Release Information

To conclude our ten-album series of “the true story of the Plastic People” we are releasing a CD with three long tracks. Regarding the composition “100 bodů” (100 points) from 1977, basically the first song they recorded after their release from prison, there is a rather well-known story, the band thought the text of the journalist František Vaněček was Bondy’s text and by setting it to music they wanted to continue the line of Bondy’s lyrics, but the mistake was explained only when the song was recorded. Our version is the so-called “studio version”, recorded at Václav Havel’s “Hrádeček”.

“Dopis Magorovi” (Letter to Magor) from 1978 is a greeting when Ivan Martin Jirous was imprisoned again. In the composition, besides all members of the Plastic People, Pavel Zajíček, Marie Benetková, Věra Jirousová, Jiří Němec, Václav Havel and others perform their greetings. “Trilogie” (the trilogy) is concluded by the composition “Inventura” (an improvisation on the theme of the composition “Nikdo” (Nobody) from 1979, intended for the film of the same name by Tomáš Liška. It is, however, 15 minutes long, so less than half of the musical production was used, and it is only now that this composition is being released in its entirety for the first time. The cover is again an original work, namely Martin Němec’s painting “Před obrazovkou” (Before the Screen) from 1977, which aptly depicts the horror of those years.

The total time of the disc is 78:34 minutes, so you can see that we have used the time really “efficiently”.
