Bluesrock Hanspaulka in full swing after more than three decades

After six years of existence and two EPs, Krausberry’s debut album was released in 1990. In it, Martin Kraus – after the departure of Petar Introvič’s Bluesberry – found plenty of room for solo singing in the overwhelming form of his own songs. Hanspaulka, Baba or Houtyš were the hallmarks of the remarkable blues or reggae scene in Prague, whose representatives can also be found on this album.

The basic line-up of M. Kraus, J. Volný, M. Kučaj, R. Dvořák, P. Venkrbec, I. Doležálek and J. Zelenka was joined in the studio by the Tesařík brothers or P. Introvič, as well as Z. Vřešťál, J. Novotný or M. Březinová. The result was, compared to the local competition, a very vigorously electrified rock for a suitably harsh voice, led by “Ohníčky” (Fires) and other almost humanized songs. Kraus largely wrote his own music, but he missed no opportunity to supplement the repertoire with suitable contributions from Zdeněk Vřešťál or Ivan Hlas.

Proudly reporting on the unused synthesizer, a complete set of song lyrics in the sleeve, a replica of the famous photo caption, remastered sound and heavy vinyl are other strengths of this reissue of an album originally released at a time when it could be damagingly overheard in the context of overwhelming events.
