DG 307 needs no introduction to the visitors of this website. Nevertheless, in this case it is an extraordinary event: the band performed several concerts in 1994 with – before and after – an unusually strong line-up: two drums, two keyboards, double strings, guitar and, of course, the unmistakable voice of Pavel Zajíček. It is also the last line-up in which Mejla Hlavsa still played, this time on keyboards.

The album is over 70 minutes long and contains the complete repertoire of this tour, including several previously unreleased tracks. Anyone familiar with DG 307 knows what to expect – but the expanded, perfectly elaborated instrumentation adds a density and monumentality to the music that builds into a kind of melancholic symphony. One of the strongest periods that still bears the stamp of Mejla’s musical genius and, of course, the stamp of Zajíček’s inimitably authentic poetry. The recording sounds like it was recorded yesterday. And it will sound just as current twenty years from now.
