Anniversary reissue of four decades of a seminal rock album

Itְ’s always tricky to talk about cultishness, but here the word really comes into its own. At a time when the banning dramas triggered by the politruk article “Nová vlna se starým obsahem” (New Wave with Old Content) were unfolding, an album far exceeding expectations in visual, musical, lyrical and concert terms was available in the spring of 1983.

Abraxas of guitarist Slávek Janda and drummer Ivan Pelíšek, originally almost an art-rock band, turned into an energetic blast with the arrival of singer Miroslav Imrich (70 this March) and bassist Michal Ditrich. The fresh lyricist Pavel Zeman was a perfect fit, the production cooperation of publicist František Horáček was beneficial, the cover with photographs by Jaroslav Prokop and graphics by Adam Hoffmeister appealed to the crowds. If we add the mythical live performances, then the songs “Každý den je to jinak” (Every Day It’s Different), “Země se točí dokola” (Earth is Spinning around), “Box”, “Zoo” or “Nekonečný boogie” (Endless Boogie) became a sign of those years and a gateway for new rock admirers.

Remastering for 180 gram vinyl, a reconstructed sleeve, an inner bag with photos and an unknown variant form of the subtitles, all make this reissue a perfect keepsake for the memorable and a possible challenge for young seekers of old rock gems.
