A triple album with the most important things Eva Pilarová has sung in her great career!

The opening theme “Co je to láska” (What is Love) heralds an important period of Semafor, documented here by a number of songs, including those from the film “Kdyby tisíc klarinetů” (If a Thousand Clarinettes). The second half of the 1960s is a continuation of the extraordinary hit successes, whether with Waldemar Matuška, Jaromír Mayer or solo. Musical melodies from The Divine Pot, but also Czech versions of S. Gainsbourg or J. Brel, Cole Porter or the excellent compositions of “Boban” Ondráček (Requiem), the writer Škvorecký’s celebrated “FitzPilarka” managed to do it all.

The second CD is just as varied. It contains Karel Svoboda’s “Hluchý zvon” (The Deaf Bell), “Dám tisíc dukátů” (I’ll Give a Thousand Ducats) or “Oheň a led” (Fire and Ice), B. Ondráček added other big hits like “Jsem tvá dlouhá pouť” (I’m Your Long Journey), “Rodeo” or “Léto, léto” (Summer, Summer), Les Humphries “lent” “Mexico” and the film “Takoví jsme byli” (That’s how we were) the theme tune.

The third CD then offers, for example, the magnificent Rota’s “Siciliana” (Speak Softly Love), Mozart’s here almost jazzy “Turecký pochod” (Turkish March), a duet with Petra Janů “Jen Pán Bůh ví” (Only the Lord God Knows), a consistently great number in the form of “J Montiho čardáš” (Monti‘s Chardonnay) and completely contemporary recordings.

Nearly seventy songs, the most complete compilation of Eva Pilarová to date, which exemplarily lived up to the triple album’s title. Indeed, her “Proměny” (Changes) are attractively varied, but unified by exquisite musicality into the resulting powerful listening experience.
