GrundRecords Release Information

Omega celebrated its 20th anniversary in 1982. According to their initial plans, they had intended to hold a grand concert at the Budapest Sports Hall to mark the occasion, but interest was so high that it eventually turned into a five-concert series. The band wanted to offer their fans a greater experience than simply taking the stage and playing their biggest hits, so they asked Miklós Jancsó to direct the concerts.

The double album “Jubileumi koncert” (Anniversary Concert) has been compiled from the anniversary concert material hit stores in 1983. The record quickly sold out, and no reissues were ever made, so the album is now considered one of Omega’s rarer releases. It has not yet been released as a standalone CD; it appeared only in an abridged form in the limited-edition three-CD box set titled “Az Omega összes koncertfelvétele II.” (The Complete Concert Recordings of Omega II.) in 1995.

This rerelease, featuring the complete material, is accompanied by a 24-page booklet containing liner notes and rare photos.
