GrundRecords Release Information
Following their initial attempts, the first line-up that could be described as stable took shape by the middle of the decade. They did not yet have any original songs at that time, but they still fit well into the record label’s practice of having Hungarian beat bands or dance singers record current foreign hits as singles.
The band recorded eight covers, which were released as four singles. In the spring of 1967, with Tamás Mihály joining the band and Illés releasing their own Hungarian-language beat songs, the need arose within Omega to write first original compositions, too.
Later, with the arrival of Gábor Presser, the band gained a permanent songwriter, and the Omega machine was set in motion. Single recordings and festival performances followed one after another; they occasionally accompanied solo singers, but in the meantime, the first invitations from abroad also began to arrive.
This publication commemorates that exciting period.
Line-up from 1966 to 1968:
János Kóbor: vocals, guitar (1-21)
Mária Wittek: vocals (1-8)
András Kovacsics: guitar (1-13)
