Supraphon Release Information

Priessnitz made a truly home-grown comeback last year in style!

After 10 long years, the legendary rockers from Jeseník released the great – and enthusiastically received by both listeners and music critics – new album “Beztíže” (Weightless). Immediately after its release, it reached No. 1 on the album chart and was one of the best-selling titles until the end of 2016. This was followed by a completely sold-out concert tour, including three Prague concerts at Palác Akropolis and Café V lese, and several major awards in music polls for album of the year. Among others, Priessnitz appeared in the Apollo Award nominations for Beztíže and received two nominations for the annual Angel Awards 2016.

In the words of Jaromír Švejdík, the lead singer and main character of Priessnitz, the band returns in a circle to the place where it all began almost thirty years ago. Priessnitz also admit that the new album would probably never have been made if it weren’t for the film “Alois Nebel“ and the subsequent – to the surprise of the band itselve – very successful tour and the warm feedback from the fans, including frequent inquiries about the new material.

Priessnitz put it together over the course of four years and recorded it in the SONO studio under the supervision of renowned producer Dušan Neuwerth. The final stage was the recording of the vocals, and to achieve authenticity, Neuwerth and Švejdík created a special home studio at a cottage in the Jeseniky Mountains.

The album “Beztíže” is about a certain journey in a circle, about the journey of a band that has been together for a very long time, a bit battered, but also learned, grown up. Priessnitz have reached their goal and don’t feel so bound by ambition and expectations, and can approach their work in a free, weightless way. They themselves then characterize “Beztíže” as an album that is probably most influenced in some way by blues or American folk music, of course in their own somewhat strange way. There are also strongly personal lyrics with references to mysterious places where the songs were written, an unmistakable guitar sound thanks to the second founding member of Priessnitz, Petr Kružík, and this time the emotive sounding trumpet is also given space.

The album itself was then released in a special limited CD edition, designed by the graphic design studio “Laboratoř”, specifically by prominent designers Petr Babák and Matěj Hanauer. And since it was a limited series, which is already sold out, the album Beztíže is now released in a new version as a CD in a digipak with new graphics, complete with an inserted poster.
