Supraphon Release Information

Clarinet Factory has written the next chapter of their remarkable journey through the world of sound

How to keep moving, keep going and find new ways of creativity? A question as old as art itself. There is no definitive answer, but those who seek, find. One of those who, with each new album, develop an endless story of searching, finding and discovering, are undoubtedly the Prague-based Clarinet Factory. The internationally renowned ensemble, which has been redefining the concept and use of clarinets for more than a quarter of a century, has written the next chapter of its fascinating journey with its new album “Towers”.

Compared to their previous release, “Pipers” from 2020, Clarinet Factory places a greater emphasis on instrumentals on the new album, so the first single “Obloha šedá” (Sky Grey) is one of only two songs with lyrics. Otherwise, clarinets, drums, and loopers play the main role, with vocals often used as an instrument or ambient. Beata Hlavenková made a significant contribution to the final sound of the album as a guest, conjuring many distinctive and colourful layers here on piano and fender piano. Apart from Beata Hlavenková, another important figure is Milan Cimfe from the studio SONO Records, who has already collaborated with Clarinet Factory on Pipers and on the new album he deals with drums, samples and other electronics. Among the other guests we cannot forget Dan Soltis, the drummer and long-time collaborator of the formation.

“Towers” is yet another distinctive work (not only) in Clarinet Factory’s discography, the multilayered nature of which will be a joy to discover with each new listening. The album has been released digitally and on vinyl as a three-sided double LP, the graphic design of which is again signed by the renowned Pavel Fuksa.
